About The Eclectic

My name is Elyse and I decided to start the The Eclectic as a space to go more in-depth about music. For the past several years I have run an Instagram page where I share my music collection of vinyl records, tapes, and CDs. Occasionally I would share my musical endeavors and weigh in on current issues. This site will serve as an outlet to provide more in-depth reviews of the music I’m currently listening to and discuss the challenges experienced by artists and independent venues in the present. It’s also where I’ll post events I’m involved with.

Music

I am passionate about music. The past several years I have worked to make music a bigger part of my life. It might not pay the bills, but music has brought me so much joy and connection. When I am working, chances are I’m listening to music. When I’m not working, chances are I’m doing something related to music.

Avowal

An eclectically extreme metal band I started in 2019. Elements of thrash, grind, and metal punk, I guess. ‘The Tower EP’ is out now and looking to record another full-length early 2024. Follow Avowal on Instagram for more updates.

Osi and the Jupiter

Spiritual and magical dark folk music written by Sean Kratz. I have played bass and provided backing vocals in a live setting and I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity. I can’t keep track of the number of bands and releases Sean has been a part of. All of them have been killer.

Drymarchon

A blackend thrash project I leant vocals to for the song, “End Times.”

The Covid Covers

A project by four.eight.five.studios where I guested on the “Inhale” cover (clean singing FYI). I had never really listened to Stone Sour, but it was fun to do and I really dig Shawn’s work. Check out the whole album.

Dhawa

Dhawa is based in Northeast Ohio and will never perform live. It’s the “side project” of side projects, created by JLuchka of supercorrupter and DeathCrawl. I lent my vocals and lyrics to Collusion Six in 2022.

Harvest

Harvest started as songs I wrote on my acoustic guitar and by the time I recorded it, I added more instrumentation. ‘Suffer with a Smile’ was released on November 11, 2020. I have more songs written and a few stripped down versions of the songs recorded on ‘Suffer with a Smile’ I would like to revist. More info TBA.
