I love Tyranny of Will by Iron Reagan. It’s hard-hitting with relentless energy and one of my favorite guitar tones on any crossover record. Phil and Mark really nailed it. When I met Phil recently at a Morbikon show we talked about the record and he mentioned tracking and producing it. Stellar job. And if you have yet to hear of Morbikon, it’s a blackened thrash project with both Phil and Dave (Municipal Waste) as members.

I also love the drumming, especially the patterns on tracks like “The Living Skull”. I dig how Ryan Parrish switches beats in that one and overall, I think he’s a pretty underrated drummer. And of course, the bass and vocals are killer too. Tony Foresta is awesome and I seem to enjoy most anything he does. He and Phil are both in Municpal Waste as well, which like Iron Regan is that crossover thrash sound (one of my favorite genres).

I get that many people prefer Municipal Waste to Iron Reagan, but not me. I wish Iron Reagan would tour again because I would love to catch them live. When I checked into concert history, I didn’t even know they came through Cleveland in 2019 with Sacred Reich. Balls. So many concerts, so little time.

Tyranny of Will on Vinyl

I have Tyranny of Will on red vinyl. It’s a 2014 pressing via Relapse Records with a fold-out poster insert. I love the art and political themes of the record.
